What is the Mauritius Premium Visa?
The Mauritius Premium Visa is applicable for a long stay, more precisely for a period exceeding 180 days in a calendar year. This Premium Visa, valid for up to one year and renewable, aims to attract Nomad Workers and professionals who are looking for a change of scene for themselves and their families, and retirees looking for a stress-free environment.
Foreign nationals who are planning to stay on the island for a cumulative period not exceeding 180 days in a calendar year, a tourist visa will be granted. How does a person qualify for the Mauritius Premium Visa?
To qualify for the Mauritius Premium Visa, non-citizens must provide evidence of:
- their long stay plans;
- adequate travel and health insurance for the initial period of stay; and
- sufficient funds to cover for the cost of the stay.
Foreigners also need to :
- demonstrate that the main place of business and source of income is outside Mauritius; and
- provide documentary evidence to support application such as purpose of visit, accommodation etc.
To note that, under the Mauritius Premium Visa, non-citizens will not be allowed to enter the Mauritius labour market. To be authorised to carry out a professional activities or invest in Mauritius, foreign nationals staying in Mauritius under the Mauritius Premium Visa may apply for an Occupation Permit, or a Residence Permit as a retired non-citizen.
